Faith Chinago Ugwu, BA, BSW, RSW

Faith is a Registered Social Worker with the Manitoba College of Social Workers. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages and Literary Studies (French) from the University of Nigeria, a Certificate in Management and Administration from the University of Manitoba, and a Bachelor of Social Work from Booth University College. Her diverse educational background reflects a lifelong commitment to learning, leadership, and professional excellence.

Faith is passionate about advancing equity and improving outcomes for marginalized and equity-deserving individuals, families, and communities. Faith’s social services career began with Altered Minds Inc., where she supported refugees and newcomers through the government-funded ENTRY Program, helping individuals and families navigate the settlement process and successfully integrate into their new communities in Manitoba. This experience strengthened her commitment to supporting individuals as they navigate complex social systems.

Throughout her career, Faith has worked across child welfare, healthcare, and community services with organizations including Winnipeg Child and Family Services, Misericordia Health Centre, and Métis Child, Family and Community Services. In these roles, she has supported Indigenous, African, Caribbean, and other diverse populations while developing extensive experience in trauma-informed practice, crisis intervention, advocacy, case management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her work has provided valuable insight into the impacts of intergenerational trauma, addiction, and systemic inequities affecting individuals, families, and communities.

Faith’s practice is grounded in the Canadian Association of Social Workers’ Code of Ethics and guided by the principles of social justice, cultural humility, and evidence-informed practice. She is committed to fostering meaningful partnerships with community organizations, advocating for equitable access to services, and promoting systemic change through collaboration and policy-informed practice.

In addition to her professional experience, Faith served as the student representative on the Board of the Manitoba College of Social Workers, contributing to initiatives that supported the advancement of the social work profession and strengthened student engagement within the regulatory body.

Faith currently serves as a Medicine and Surgery Social Worker at Health Sciences Centre, where she provides comprehensive biopsychosocial support to patients and their families while working collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to promote safe, equitable, and person-centered care.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Faith enjoys spending time with her family, creating handmade crafts, sewing, and exploring nature through long walks. She remains dedicated to lifelong learning, community leadership, and advancing equity within the social work profession.
